If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that you don’t need to hop on a plane to feel like you’re in Italy — sometimes, all it takes is the right music, food, and company.
This past Saturday, I had the absolute joy of co-hosting our second-ever SERATA — an Italian dance party, Musica Toronto and I, created right here in Toronto’s Little Italy. After our first event sold out back in January, we knew there was something special about this idea: a night where people could come together to celebrate modern Italian culture, connect with their roots, and most importantly, just have fun.

On June 15th, 2024, Revival Night Club on College Street turned into our own little slice of Italy. We kicked off the evening with an aperitivo hour where we treated guests to FREE Peroni beer and Dolce Toronto gelato. Then, as the lights dimmed, the space transformed into a true Italian discoteca, with DJs spinning a mix of nostalgic classics and the latest hits from Italy. The night ended off with complementary espresso and cannoli from ZaZa Espresso – simply perfetto!
What makes SERATA so close to my heart is that it bridges generations. It’s about more than just music or nightlife — it’s about connection. Many of us grew up with Italian traditions passed down from our parents and grandparents, but there’s also a new side of Italy we’re discovering and sharing. Through SERATA, we get to celebrate both — the old and the new — and bring everyone along for the experience.

Seeing people of all backgrounds dancing to Italian songs, singing along even if they didn’t know every word, reminded me why we started this in the first place. It’s about joy, culture, and belonging — and a reminder that Italian spirit is alive and thriving right here in Toronto. To everyone who came out — grazie di cuore! And if you missed it, don’t worry — SERATA will be back. Follow @serata.to on Instagram or grab tickets on Eventbrite to join us next time. Trust me, it’s a night you won’t forget.
